Spotted an unframed installation on the wall that at a distance looked like a spider’s web. I thought it was a risqué shawl at first glance.
It was made using an elaborate entanglement of chrome ballpoint pen chains, giving it some resemblance to a cobweb covered in morning dew:
CAPTIVE 2 (2021) by Eddie Clemens / BIC captive chain ballpoint pens, ball chain and fittings / 1200 x 1300mm
I liked the shape of it. A deceptively simple concept yet clever nonetheless. I probably would have named it WRITER’S WEB myself, but CAPTIVE is by far the more ambiguous title.

There was a lot of beautiful artwork to take in at this year’s Art Fair, and walking around with beautiful company meant not many photos were taken, but such is the nature of quality time spent. One can never see enough of a good thing.
“When you are courting a nice girl an hour seems like a second. When you sit on a red-hot cinder a second seems like an hour. That’s relativity.” ~ Albert Einstein
Speaking of relativity, when I see a pen I think of writing, so it would be cool to see an adaptation of CAPTIVE 2 that incorporates an interactive element. I know I would certainly appreciate it (art begets art so, I’m just gonna plug myself right here):

*Cough Cough* Wow! W-what’s that cool thing? *Cough Cough*
